I'll be visiting NYC (Brooklyn and lower Manhattan); can you recommend any good local restaurant sites or blogs? The big ones, like NY Times and New York Magazine, are a bit overwhelming.|||http://www.zwire.com/site/news.asp?brd=2鈥?/a>
24/Seven is a free newspaper - it's usually an insert in the middle of the free neighborhood papers (the Park Slope Courier, Bay Ridge Courier, etc) They have restaurant reviews, musical events and sometimes offer coupons for restaurants and museums. They also list some menus online.

Bay Ridge restaurants:

It's big, but, MenuPages is the best one - it's easy to navigate - you can narrow it down by neighborhood or type of food. The menus and prices are printed here and, you can read comments made by people who have eaten there. I love to read menus! It tells you the restaurant's exact location (the cross-streets) and the hours they are open.

I like Ed Levine, and often try the restaurants that he recommends

Their neighborhood search is handy.|||I am going to show you EVERYTHING you need to know in THREE websites.

www.yelp.com --- customer reviews, so you know exactly what you're getting into. I don't go anywhere without checking this out

www.sheckys.com --- great for checking out nightlife, what's hot, and you can search bars and restaurants by neighborhood, and type (credit cards, after work, romantic, pool table, etc)

www.menupages.com --- always DEAD ON when you're unsure of a restaurant's menu. most restaurants in NYC are on here.

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!|||i use opentable.com its a very helpful site.|||www.newyork.citysearch.com (well-used by locals, so many search options and category listings, plus reviews from actual people)

www.timeoutny.com

www.menupages.com - good if you want to see the menu, but I don't really like it for anything besides that|||http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/337043/best_mexican_restaurant_in_new_york.html
