I was just wondering if there two separate things. Im looking to try to bartend this summer, and I already have my liquor license from a previous job. Do I need to get a bartending license in order to bartend?|||There is no such thing as a bartending license. The only thing required for a person to bartend is that they be 18+. I also doubt you have a liquor license because those cost several tens of thousands of dollars if not hundreds of thousands, because that means you have your own business that sells alcohol.|||Liquor License: A license required to sell liquor at an establishment. The bar, club, or establishment needs to own one of these to legally serve liquor in the designated region. It can be revoked if they serve to minors or break any of the regulations surrounding the liquor license. You don't need to worry about getting one of these as a bartender.

Bartending License: A "license" issued to graduates of bartending schools to show the completion of the course. They are not required anywhere if you want to get a bartending job. They can help to show that you have some education in the matter, but experience will always be preferred over a bartending course.|||First, there is no such thing as a bartending "license" in the U.S. Some states do require you to get a certification by attending a class that lasts a couple of hours and some companies will pay the fee for you if you work for them.

Be careful, though.

The reason they make you take the course isn't what you might think. the certification makes you an "educated server" in the eyes of the law. if you serve an "obvious intox" in the past, it was the bar owners who shouldered the burden of the laws. Not if you are certified. If you serve an obvious intox, it is now your responsibility, not the owners, anymore. Any damage, monetary and physical, is now on you and any judgment will come out of your pocket, not the owners.|||No one is for if you want to start your own burery- sorry if that's spelled wrong. my dad and grandpa own a wine buiness and without a license you can get into big trouble, a bartending license just say's you know your liquers such as wine's beer's and so forth, it also lets you open up your own bar' and sell some to most 'iquer prodects depending on your state and rule's.|||I would think so. A liquor license is probably just a license to sell liquor and a bar tending license is probably a license to make drinks containing liquor.
