I have a bartending license and all that, but got it in the summer,so i sort of forgot the whole 200+ drinks i needed to memorize and all. I know most of the drinks since i go out, but this place is a hookah lounge and bar so im guessing all kinds of drinks will be served there. I just need some advice on how i should act and all that, just a bit nervous and all. and i need some popular drinks that def will be asked.
THANKS!|||Welcome to the big time! Being a bartender is great fun, without a doubt it has been my most enjoyable job. I have been a bartender for over 15 years and have loved most every night of it.
Being a bartender is either something you can or cannot do. Not to sound conceded but it is not something everyone is capable of. You have to be able to track numerous things at the same time, think of drinks, think of food orders you have, and how drunk people are, your cocktail waitresses, etc.
You will know within the first two weeks if it is the right job for you.
I recently wrote an article on my blog about this exact subject, What does it take to be a bartender.

As far as drink recipes go, I would not worry about it too much. No matter how many drinks you know people will always ask for one you have never heard of, you have to be ready to say I don't know that drink, can you tell me whats in it?
Just relax and be yourself, if you are made for it the job will be easy.
Learning the drinks will all come in the first couple of weeks of the job. Most recipes are different depending on where you live, so east coast long islands have Tequila and the mid-west puts triple sec in it. So depending on who you are making it for you may be right or wrong. What matters is your clients have fun, if you make a drink wrong, learn from it and start over.|||If you learned bartending at a school then refer to your course drink guides. If not you may want to enroll in one since there are 65,000 drink recipes and the most basic 60 or so will be absolutely necessary to maintain a job bartending. Speed is equally important in any bartending job so you can't fumble timewise as you learn how to make a long island iced tea or a russian quaalude along with 5 other drinks in 3 minutes.
