Hi, I was looking into getting a bartending license and found this site http://www.servercertificationcorp.com/state.php?statecode=%27FL%27

Does it look like a legitimate site? Please let me know|||I am not sure which state that you live in. But there are certain states that require their employees to take a class the alcohol server education course. But not all states require you to take this course. These are the states that require you to be certified TX, AL, TN, LA, NM, UT, NV-varies by city, OR, WA, MN-varies by city, WI, KY-varies by city, MA-varies by city,MI-Managers only. The rest of the states are voluntary Certification and not required to take the class. If I was you I would call the bars that you plan on applying at and ask the bartender if that bar requires that you be certified to work there. And if they had to pay out of there pocket to get their certification or does the bar pay for there employees to attend the class. If the bartender had to be certified, ask if is has an expiration date on the card. This could save you some money. Hope this info was helpful. Bartendingexposed.com|||there is NO SUCH THING as a bar tending licence in most of the world

many locations require you to take a responsible server class/certification, which is usually a weekend course, or done online. if this company says you need a licence or they give you a licence, it sounds fishy.|||There is no universal "Bartending License" in the US. There is, however, several things that many bars and restaurants refer to as a "Bartending License," and they are:

1. ServSafe Certification with the NRA (National Restaurant Association). This is a 3-year certification for the safe service of alcohol. Some states/cities have other certifications through the NRA, but the ServSafe is the "Big Daddy" of them all and usually supersede them.

2. A Mixology Certification. What's the diference between a Bartender and a Mixologist??? Well, it's the difference between a Cook and a Chef. Anyone can be trained to be a cook (just spend enough time in a kitchen and you'll learn something!) - but being a chef requires more than a little training! Also, Chefs (like Mixologists) make WAY more money than cooks (like Bartenders).

Finally, bartending is a "Hands-on" job - it's not something you learn through books, DVDs, or on the web - you learn it working behind a bar! There's only two ways to do that: either start off as a server, work your way up to being a bar-back, then become a bartender (which takes about 5 years) - or get the professional training at a professional bartending school with credentials, a proven history, and a verified Job Placement program!
