really depends on where you are. i am originally from tennessee and i bartended there for 5 yrs. i got my liscence after i got hired but it is pretty cake to get a job once you already have it. experience helps but most places do things thier own way and are willing to train you. just put in applications and keep a smile on your face. bartending is more about personality than anything. good luck and enjoy! it's a fun gig!|||There are a lot of bartending jobs available, but most of the top paying ones are for individuals with a lot of experience and great references. You might have to start at a local pub, but getting any on the job training will help you get your feet wet and get some jobs in this field listed on your resume. One of my daughters started out this way and went on to become a high-earning bartender in some of the top hotels in Las Vegas.|||There are plenty of part time bartending opportunities for someone new. Full time is a bit tougher without experience.|||Pretty easy. Getting a great one with good tips is a lot harder. Even here in Las Vegas, the shift can make a huge difference in your income. Knowing someone or having a relative with some juice helps a lot.
If you can get on with a caterer doing receptions, parties, etc you can market yourself to a lot of people. Personality will take you a long way.|||I make great money tending bar...I do have alot of experience and I bust my ***, but it's gratifying as hell to have primo Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night shifts and walk out with over $1275 in cash (after tipping out my barback) for about 21 hours of work per week.
Start wherever you can, be personable without being personal, do not talk politics, do not comment or join in a conversation that you do not need to be in, let the patron buy you a drink even if you can't drink on the job (it's still a sale!) same goes for when they buy drinks for others and they don't want them, and remember - if you're a female bartender, and a couple comes in together - you talk to the ladies first and make more eye contact with them than the men...it'll pay off every time.
