No. Check your state's liquor laws to see if a license is required (I know Nevada requires one, but all the states I have worked in have not...)|||I bartended in New Jersey for 25 years and never had a license. It was never required. Are you maybe confusing it with a certificate program that you would get from a bartending school? Bartending school is only good if you know absolutely nothing about the trade. Usually restaurants will train you as a barback first so you can get a grasp of what is going on.|||there is no such thing as a national bar tending license

there are certification programs, which you get for paying a fee and going to some classes... but they aren't required in most states

some states require you to go through some sort of 'responsible server' thing, which basically teaches you to not keep serving people that don't need any more.

my suggestion would be asking your state liquor control office you are planning on going to if something is required and what.

without knowing where you are, and where you are going, i can't be clearer.
