I'm only 18 and I was wondering if it is possible to get my bartending license. I live in Wisconsin. Please help.|||let me repeat this for the 400th time

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BAR TENDING LICENCE

the only licence involved with selling alcohol is the licence the bar/restaurant is required to have. There are certification courses all over the US that teach you how to mix drinks and other services, and some locations require a responsible server course, which is usually a couple hour class you can do on a weekend, or over the internet.

finally, Wisconsin does allow 18 year olds to tend bar, but chances of a bar hirning someone who can't even legally taste what they are mixing is pretty unlikely.|||You can Bartend in Wisconsin at age 18. And you do have to have a License in Wisconsin. There is a course you can take online and it is approved by the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue. It takes 2 to 4 hours to complete the course. You can instantly print your certificate upon completion Ill give you the link so you can take a look . http://servingalcohol.com/wisconsin-bart鈥?/a> Hope this was helpful . If you want to take a bartending course check out http://Bartendingexposed.com its 37.00. Highly Recommend by a lot of people. Good luck|||I used to bartend in WI, and yes, THERE IS A BARTENDING LICENSE IN WI. You only have to be 18.

State law requires that at least one person behind the bar be licensed. Anyone else can work behind the bar with them and it is legal, so technically you don't have to have one as long as someone else does. I used to have to "work" at my bar on my off days so one of our hot bartenders could work. She had a few DUI's and couldn't get hers.

Check with your city hall (look up city clerk in the white pages), they will have classes (about 4 hours and a test) I don't remember how much it cost. Also, if you have any recent Underage consumption tickets or DUI's they may not license you.

The best way to get into bartending is to try to get a job as a barback somewhere (you stock ice, bottles, beer, etc). That way you can learn the trade before you get thrown to the wolves. We never hired someone right off the street unless they had experience.

If you can't get into a barback job, try getting into a restaurant like chili's or applebees. They are a joke of a bartending job, and they will usually hire you straight out. Get experience there and then try to find a real bar to work at.

Don't go to bartending school, it's a joke, and everyone I've ever known to have gone said it is a waste of $$. Any good bar will teach you what you need to know, and they will pay you instead of you having to pay them.

It might be a good idea to get your license though, that way any employer knows that you are serious about it when you walk in the door.

Good Luck!

ps. Don't emulate the movie cocktail, we make fun of bartenders that think they know how to flair just because they watched the movie. The only way to learn flair is to have someone teach you.

pps. WI has a really cool law where you can drink in the bar if you are with your legal guardian. See if you can get your mom or dad to take you in to have a few drinks! My mom would drive in from MN to take me when I was underage in WI.|||Yeah you're old enough to have a license in WI. If the place you're considering is a restaurant that requires you to have one and you kinda know what you're doing below is a link to a place where you can take the exam/exam prep online then print off a thing which you take to your local court house and bamo you're licensed.

If you're totally clueless as how to mix very basic drinks or you're going to be applying at actual bars you might want to look for a bartending academy near to you that would actually teach you how to mix quite a few drinks & would probably set up the exam and cert fro you.

PS - Watch the movie "Cocktail" with Tom Cruise. Won't teach you anything but some really neat tricks you should never ever try to learn at work or you'll break bottles for sure.|||you have to be 69
